About NCC: –
The National Cadet Corps (NCC) has its genesis in the ‘University Corps’ which was created under the Defence Act, 1917. But NCC was finally established after Kunzru Committee’s recommendation at the behest of our first Prime Minister Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru. The NCC came into existence on 16th July, 1948 under the NCC Act XXXVI of 1948, under the Ministry of Defence (MoD). NCC Naval Unit started from year 2019 with the capacity of 50 no of cadets in Larambha College, Larambha.
AIM: –
The aims of NCC as approved:
- To develop character, comradeship, discipline, leadership, secular outlook, spirit of adventure, sportsmanship and ideals of selfless service among the youth of the country.
- To create a human resource of organized, trained and motivated youth, to provide leadership in all walks of life and always be available for the service of the Nation.
- To provide a suitable environment to motivate the youth to take up a career in the Armed Forces.
NCC began in Larambha College, Larambha since 2019, Larambha College NCC Unit comes under Sambalpur Group headquarters and is affiliated to 4 (O) Naval Unit, Bhawanipatana. It provides three years course to the cadets. The authorize strength of cadets is fifty (50). The Naval NCC of college is under the command and control of Shri Saroj Kumar Nayak, Lecturer in Chemistry. During its regular activities it holds training for physical fitness and prepares cadet for ‘B’ and ’C’ certificate. Our college Unit is continuing to motivate the cadets towards higher standards by tapping into their unlimited enthusiasm. It is also ensured through camp attendance both National and State level and other group activities. Preference is given to NCC certificate holders in recruitment of Armed Forces, State Police Force, Fire Services and other Security Services. Concession is also given in academic field to the ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘C’ certificate holders. The cadets of the college NCC unit performed well in National and State level competitions.
