About Department

The Department of Political Science has started in the year 1970-71with the Undergraduate Program.The Department of Political Science, Larambha College, Bargarh, enjoys an exceptional reputation in both teaching and career building. It offers in-depth studies in political theory, international relations, and comparative politics. Our programs foster critical thinking, research skills, and a deep understanding of political systems, preparing students for careers in academia, public service, and beyond.

The vision of the department is to shape the way the Political Science discipline is understood and taught in India in a foundational manner, imbued with a distinctive focus on contributions of the Indian scholarship in understanding our complex and diverse social realities. We are committed to advance education and academic research that fosters possibilities of intellectual and social transformation of our students and prepares them to become citizen leaders committed to values of social & gender justice and public service.

  • To prepare adequately competent students who understand and apply concepts, theories, and methodologies from different sub fields of Political Science to make sense of the world around them.
  • To familiarize students with the latest developments in the discipline and enable them to acquire substantive knowledge of institutions and processes of government that shape politics within and among nations.
  • To help students relate class room instruction to the political processes outside the class, and contribute to knowledge-building through a commitment to equity, inclusiveness, diversity and concern for the environment.
  • To undertake teaching, research and extension programs in major branches of Political Science.
  • To impart training to the student in order to equip them academic and professional capability & develop among them analytical perspective.
  • To encourage research in the social political issues at contribute to the discipline of Political Science.
